چکیده

This paper presents an overview of the characteristics potentially influencing profile vortex shedding (PVS) phenomenon being relevant in noise and vibration low-speed axial fan rotor blades. Dimensional analysis has been applied to explore essential dimensionless quantities a systematic comprehensive manner. On this basis, limitations have established, simplifying assumptions set up terms PVS investigation. Groups playing role semi-empirical model for predicting frequency were identified. The available its unique features related measurement evaluation methodology Reynolds number dependence outlined. presented provides guidelines from perspective transferability literature data on steady, isolated blade models rotors. It also results formulation objectives future research PVS.

Vortex flows from centrifugal fan

A comprehensive work has been accomplished for the observation of flow details from a centrifugal fan inside an indoor unit of air conditioners. The present study is finding optimum flow paths in the system that supplies temperature-controlled air into the space human being. Fig. 1 shows the outlet grill of the system (left) and the flow details by PIV system (right) over the grill are objectiv...

Thermal Field Around a Circular Cylinder with Periodic Vortex Shedding

A numerical study is carried out to investigate the laminar forced convection heat transfer from a circular cylinder. The fluid is assumed to be incompressible, the Reynolds number ranged from 0.1 to 1000, and the Prandtl number was equal to 0.7. The range of study includes heat transfer in creeping flow (Re40). The equations were discretized by a control-volume-based finite difference techniqu...

Weakened Vortex Shedding from a Rotating Cylinder

An experimental study of the turbulent near wake of a rotating circular cylinder was made at a Reynolds number of 2000 for velocity ratios, λ between 0 and 2.7. Particle image velocimetry data are analyzed to study the effects of rotation on the flow structures behind the cylinder. The results indicate that the rotation of the cylinder causes significant changes in the vortex formation. Kármán ...

Experimental comparison between a counter-rotating axial-flow fan and a conventional rotor-stator stage

Based on the requirement of energy consumption level and weight and dimension restriction, compact axial machines are highly demanded in many industrial fields. The counter-rotating axial-flow fans could be a promising way to achieve these requirements. Because of the reduction of rotational speed and a better homogenization of the flow downstream of the rear rotor, these machines may have very...

Uncertainty quantification of low - speed fan noise

Uncertainty quantification (UQ) has been achieved for the first time on the self-noise prediction of a low-subsonic axial fan. Realistic 5% and 4% errors are introduced on the volume flow-rate and the rotational speed, respectively, and a set of 81 ReynoldsAveraged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations of the fan mounted on an axisymmetric test plenum has been simulated at Clenshaw-Curtis points. By...
